I did not hate my mother. I loved her. She always cared about me but…. “Mom, I will see you in a year and a half. Don’t even try to look for me because you will not find me. No one in this world will be able to find me since I have the ability to stay hidden. Just know that I love you and Dad. I will be back in a year and a half. Trust me on this. When the time comes, I will explain everything.”

I hung up the phone, not giving her a chance to reply. I then took the phone, took out the sim card and the battery, and tossed it aside. “Ai…. Are you okay?”

I looked over at Jen, who was looking at me nervously, and smiled. “When you have been through the shit I have been through, Jen…. You can deal with anything. Let’s go. We need to head back to the base now that things have changed.”

I had hoped this would not have happened. I still wanted to spend some normal time with my parents, but this time, I was unable to. When I return next, it will be to tie my parents up and bring them to the base. They will not be happy with me, but they will understand once they see what is going on with their own eyes.

Jen and I quickly returned to the base. I made sure to jam all cameras so that no one would know where we went. I planned to get off in the town just before the mountain because I knew they could easily follow my path if they noticed the cameras of places going out in certain locations. Even the bus camera was no exception.

“So what should we do for now?” Jen asked.

“We should begin setting things up. We will be living here on solar power for the time being. I will have our phase generator built within the next few days. But I will need to leave early tonight in order to head back to the city. I need to hit that lab no matter what.” I explained. That lab had the key ingredients that I needed to make phase energy.

“I will hold the fort down then,” Jen replied as she hugged my waist.

“Don’t worry. No one will be able to tell you are here. I will seal the entrance up like normal before I leave. You can lounge out and play games or something until I get home.” I nuzzled into her neck and kissed it gently.

“I will be waiting.”

That evening at dusk, I left the base and ran as fast as I could. The bus took a few hours to reach the mountain, but I could run to the city in less than an hour. Night had just settled in when I arrived at my destination.

The tall building that had over a hundred floors on it stood high in the sky. But my destination was not the floors above but the basement floors that one could not get to easily.

I walked towards the side of the building to an unassuming door. This door looked like nothing more than a maintenance door but, in fact, was a door that led to the elevator that led to the lab below.

I walked over to it, jamming the cameras above it, and tapped the side brick with a metal card I had made. A clicking sound was heard, and the door slowly opened. I walked in to see a small hallway that had piping on each side. The card I had just used was a special device that decoded the signal needed to open the door. Basically a skeleton key that no modern technology could stop.

I walked down the hall for a few feet before stopping at a locker that was sitting there, taking up part of the space. Inside was a mop and bucket, which were covered in dust. But that was not the thing about this locker. I tapped the metal card on the side, and the locker suddenly sunk into the wall, revealing a small space.

I stepped into it and tapped the card on the right side wall, causing another door to open. This was an elevator. This was the secret elevator that only a few knew about. It took you down to the bottom the middle floors of the lab. From there, I would need to be very careful. However, I did feel like I was in one of those spy movies breaking into the enemy’s secret base.

As the elevator slowly descended, I took out the drones I had made and the special helmet before turning them all on. When the doors to the elevator opened, I was met with a well-let hallway with white walls.

Before I made a move, I listened quietly for any noises, and only when I did not hear any movement did I let out a sigh of relief. This was the hardest part of the entire mission. If there were a lot of people here, I would have to knock them out. I sent out my drones to check the hallway. I was looking for the other secure elevator. I had only mapped this section of the entire facility. But I did have an idea of what I was looking for since there was one spot on the map I had made that was blank.
