"What's with this bot? It's just sitting there."

"We can't move like this. This building only has the one stairwell. If we try to go up it, the bot will open fire on us. And I, for one, do not wish to get shot by my own weapon. Maybe if someone didn't get their gear taken, this would be easier."

"I heard that!"

"I said it so you could hear it!"

"Shit, will you two stop!? It's on the third floor sitting in wait. Normally a bot would have just run, so this is something new. That model should not have such intelligence. "

"Maybe we can just let this one go? If we go up, even if we take it out, one of us may get injured in the process."

"Who the fuck said that the guard duty at the reclamation facility was safe!? A damn robot came back to life, and now we have to take care of it. But do they supply us with proper gear!?"

"Shut up! If I recall, correctly you were flung into the water like a piece of trash!"

"And whose fault is that!? You got your damn gear stolen."

"Alright enough! One more word, and I will kill you both myself and blame it on the bot!"

The two men glared at each other but didn't say another word. Seeing this, the one in the lead nodded and continued: "I want one of you to go around to the backside of the building. The third floor only has one exit as it was heavily damaged during the first strike. You two will take the east and west side of the building, and you will guard here. I will take point and try to flush it out. If I go down, the rest of you must try to stop it at all costs. We are too close to X-Cyber City. This area is far from the front line. But if just a single one is able to infiltrate the city, it could mean the end for humans. I do not wish to see humanity disappear just yet."

After a short pause, he continued: "Alright, you got your orders! Move out!"

"Yes, Sir!"

Eve, who was on the third floor, shook her head and wondered why these people were speaking so loudly. "Do they think I am deaf?"

"They probably think that you do not have any chance of escaping. They see you as a broken robot from the reclamation facility, something that is obsolete. From their current movements, they plan to try to stop you as you try to make your escape. Look down. You will see one entering as the others get into position." Aiu gave her analysis of the situation.

"I know, but still, I just heard their entire plan! Well… Anyway, let's show them that I, Eve, am not so easy to bully, shall we?" Eve looked around a bit and smiled as she saw a few things that would come in handy. "I have to be quick!"

She ran over and pulled a long line of thick cable, and went back to the stairwell. She threw one end up over a steel beam that was exposed in the ceiling. After securing both ends to the railing, she got a big chunk of concrete with metal rods sticking out of it and tied it to one end of the cable securely before hoisting it up. She then pulled the wire tight as she undid the other end from the railing and slowly backed up until she was leaning against the wall next to the door of the third floor. This hoisted the chunk of concrete up towards the steel beam.

"Eve this..." Aiu looked at the old-fashioned trap and wished she had hands and a head so she could hold her head in her hands. She wondered if Eve was just playing around at this point.

"What!? Do you have any better ideas? This was the best I could think of! It's not like I got time to make some elaborate trap!" Eve pursed her imaginary lips. She had seen this done in a cartoon before and had always wanted to try it.

Aiu did not say anything else. She just didn't think the one who created her and was on the verge of creating a body for her would resort to such a cheap trick. But when she thought about it, this trap was actually perfect against someone who was relying on heat signatures to track their target. They would not see it coming. At least, this was the optimistic view she was trying to take on the situation.

"What the hell is it doing?" The leader of the humans was a little confused. He could only see Eve moving around on the third floor but couldn't see what she was doing exactly, only that the heat from her core was moving around. Since he was not completely sure as to what Eve was doing, he decided to be careful as he opened the door to the stairwell and looked inside.

On the third floor, Eve and Aiu were waiting patiently. Eve grasped the cable in her hand and waited. "Drop it when I say to." Aiu was closely watching the movements of the man coming up the stairs. She also couldn't help but praise him for how cautious he was being. He was taking each step slowly as he climbed the stairs checking his surroundings as he did.

As the sounds of his footsteps got closer and closer, Eve had imaginary sweat rolling down her back. She watched as the heat signature of the man climbed the stairs until finally, Aiu yelled out: " Now!"

Eve quickly let go of the cable in her hand. The weight of the concrete took over and began falling towards the stairwell. The man on the stairs heard a strange noise and looked up. It was so sudden that as he dodged, he fired up at the concrete, thinking it was Eve! "Son of a bitch! Who uses such old traps!?" The man yelled as he backed down the stairs and looked at the concrete that he had just unloaded half his clip into. But before he could even react another object fell from the third floor and the sounds of gunshots once again were heard echoing throughout the stairwell.
