“Shizu, what are you talking about?” Miyumi was a little curious.

“This book seems to be about the history of this castle or the kingdom this castle was a part of. The Kingdom of Glinland.” Shizuku replied as she began reading the first passage out loud.

“Before the Kingdom of Glinland formed, the world was a place full of high magic technology. The human race had achieved much over the millions of years they had been walking the earth. They combined magic and technology and created a world filled with many things.

“But one creation caused the downfall of the world. A mega magic accelerator. It was created to learn more about magic particles. However, the magic techs working on the project did not realize they were playing with something they still knew so little about. The very day the accelerator was activated spelled doom for the world. The magic particles sped through the accelerator and crashed into each other.

“This formed a magic circle they had never seen before. And from it a fire demon appeared that was so tall that no one was able to even see its head past the clouds. With each step, it burned the land and evaporated the oceans. It took the best minds to come up with a spell that sealed the fire demon into a void. But it was already too late. Those who survived had little food. They began to travel across the oceans that were now nothing but wastelands until they found a single patch of green land.

“It would be on this very land that humanity would slowly form a new kingdom and revert to the ways of old. Magic was heavily regulated, and magi tech had been completely outlawed. If caught creating anything beyond a specific technological level, they would be sentenced to death.

“These laws were strictly upheld, and because of this, humanity slowly began to bring back the burnt land. And over time, the Kingdom of Glinland reclaimed the entire continent. Humanity was at peace.

“But then a war broke out. As the saying goes, the bigger you are, the harder it is to keep your eye on everything. New magi tech began to appear once more, and a grand war began to take place. The continent was once more split as the Federation Empire appeared. To this day, the Kingdom of Glinland and the Federation Empire have been at war.” Shizuku was surprised to hear that this place had such a history.

“Looks like they lost…. The Kingdom of Glinland, that is.” Mei had been listening intently to the story.

“Mmm… it seems the Federation must have taken the kingdom, or maybe the world blew up. Who knows. But at least we now understand that we should always understand the risks before doing something.” Shizuku sighed as she leaned her head back. “I do kind of wish I could have seen their world and all the magi tech. It sounds like it would have been quite cool.”

“If we ever get to settle down, we can try taking our knowledge of things and applying them to magic,” Miyumi suggested.

“We would have to put limits on things, though. Going too far might cause the world to be destroyed. But it is a good idea. The world already has some technology but not enough.” Shizuku liked Miyumi’s idea. But she also knew she had to be careful.

“Let’s get to Fallen territory before deciding what we will do from now on. We have one goal, which is to rescue our friends, but we still need to deal with other things as well. Like the demon lord or the destruction of the church.” Shizuku did not mind fighting some demon lord if she was strong enough. But she did not wish to see the church any longer. She was too weak now, but later on….

“You could have destroyed the church with your abilities, no?” Miyumi knew just how strong Shizuku was, but she did not know why she was not attacking the church now.

“There are many innocents as well. I highly doubt every person there is corrupt. Many might actually worship Goddess Yunni. Also, I do not plan to become a complete enemy of the state just yet. Not until I have the power to deal with anyone who is too powerful.” Shizuku did not know how powerful the church was, but to have so much say, they must have some powerful figures within the church itself.

“I guess that is true. We should get stronger and stronger!” Miyumi nodded at Shizuku’s explanation.

“Master, will you be buying more slaves?” Mei asked.

“Maybe? It depends if they are cute and powerful.” Shizuku replied with a grin.  “Although I do kind of want to figure out this slave branding. I am not one to force any kind of orders, but to have the ability to bring you all back to me is quite nice.”

It was actually quite handy to have a slave brand on her wives. This made it easier for her to keep track of where they were at, and to allow them to return to her if there was ever a need. She, of course, hoped there would never be a need to do so.
