At around 10 AM, my program went off and set my and Jen’s attendance in the system as present. This meant, for the time being, there should be no calls home. In the next few weeks, I will just route the calls to an automated A.I. that will talk to the school using my mother’s voice as well as Jen’s mother’s voice data. Luckily, both are in the public eye, so it is not hard to get voice samples. It will be then that I will tell the school that I will be transfered out to another country.

My current system was only viable for the short term. After a while, the teachers will find something funny. Unless they are utter idiots, then in that case, I would never have any problems. But if the teachers were actual teachers who cared about their students, then I would need to come up with backup plans. As for transfer papers and all that, I can always send them later on.

Jen woke up around a half hour later. She looked a bit more refreshed than she was before. “You are finally awake.”

“Mm… Sorry.” Jen blushed.

“It’s fine. Today, we will be doing a lot of different things. But mainly, we will be scouting out a location. So we will be taking the bus to the mountains.” I already decided the place we would be going would not be a place that would be easily gotten to. Luckily, I have an inventory. So anything I acquire will be easily transported. And I planned to get quite a few things legally and illegally.

“The mountains!?” Jen asked in surprise.

“Yep, we are going to pick a random location and then mark it. I will grab some shovels to break ground today. I will leave a note saying I will be staying at your house tonight for my mom. So we will be camping out tonight. We will stop off at the FailMart to get some camping gear and necessities for tonight.” My mother never cared if I stayed at Jens, so all I had to say was that I was spending the night with her, and my mother would give me a few bucks for food.

“I never camped before. Will we be okay?” Jen seemed a bit nervous. I smiled and nodded while patting my chest.

“Of course! I spent many days camping out…. Well, more like 20 years since that was all we could do.” I chuckled, just thinking about my first time trying to deal with camping out. I was a bit of a mess.

“Ai….” Jen turned around and hugged me, catching me off guard.

“Jen?” I asked softly.

“I will not let you be alone this time. I will stay with you from the beginning to the end. You have always helped me, so let me do this much to repay you.” I guess my past life stories tugged on her heartstrings. This girl was always kind and caring.

“Then I will be counting on you to watch my back in the future, and I will watch yours.” I tickled her sides, causing her to squirm, but she did not let go. I could only helplessly sigh and hug her back. “Don’t worry. We will figure it all out.”

We both got dressed and headed out. I brought a book bag with me to mask what I was doing. I would be sticking everything I needed into my inventory, so even if I walked out, they would only find my laptop inside, which was scuffed up enough to show that it was not new. I did not plan to pay for anything. I will knock out the cameras using a jamming system so that even if they reboot their systems, they will still be jammed. I already wrote the program and tied it to the Wi-Fi adapter on my laptop.

“Ai, how much do you plan on buying?” Jen asked as she looked at the long list in my hands. “Hmmm? Around a thousand or two. Although I will not be spending anything.”

“Huh? What do you mean? How will you get anything without money?” I guess the fact that I was spending two grand at my age did not phase Jen. It was the whole not spending a dime thing.

“I told you about my inventory, right?” I asked.

“Yes, you showed me how you can stick things insid…. Noway!” Jen got close to me and lowered her voice: “Are you planning on stealing!?”

“My dear Jen, you need to get used to this because in the future, we will not only be doing this on a daily basis, but we will be doing things on a large scale. In order to build a base, we will need lots of machinery. Luckily, I know how to operate everything. Just digging by hand will not help us in the slightest. We will be digging at least sixty feet down. We will also be using cement and metal to build the outer shell of the base. I will make it as comfortable as possible. We will also need to drill down into the trunks of trees and into the ground to make ventilation shafts.

“Surveillance systems, security systems, blast doors, we will be building a base that is meant for protecting ourselves from alien robots known as replicators. An A.I. bent on killing all living things of a certain size.”
