When we arrived at FailMart, we walked to the side of the building out of the line of sight of one of the cameras, where I sat down and took out my laptop.  Jen sat next to me and huddled over my shoulder looking at my screen. “What does this do?”

“It will make it so we are basically like ghosts. When we get inside just stay to my right side at all times. You can even hug my arm. But just stay close and do not touch anything okay? Let me take the things we need.” I wanted things to go smoothly, and since this was Jen’s first time robbing a place, she had to watch closely and not do anything this time around.

“Okay.” Jen nodded her head. She had a cute, serious expression on her face.

“We will have to bathe inside a tent tonight, so I will be counting on you to wash my back.” I gave her a teasing grin, which made her blush, but she still nodded. I ran my Python program and then put my laptop back into my bag, leaving the top part open to not have any interruptions in the signal. I then put the bag on normally as I walked into the store with Jen at my side.

Taking things in Failmart was like walking to my fridge in the middle of the night. It was so simple and no one even noticed a thing. I took a large tent and the normal camping gear. Shovels, pickaxes, a wheelbarrow, gas cans, and many other things I know I will need in the future. I even stole a ton of food to see if it would spoil or not. But I really did load up on water. When no one was around, I swept through the entire water section and took it all. My inventory spaces seemed to be unlimited because no matter how much I shoved into it, there were always more slots as the inventory scrolled down to reveal more.

No one would suspect two teen girls of robbing the place blind like this. The canned food section also got decimated. Anything that would last for years on end, I stole. Jen was basically wide-eyed the entire time. Even when she watched me go to the gun section to look around curiously, she saw me swipe a few pistols, two shotguns, and a rifle into my inventory when the guy was not looking. Bullets and even a few crossbows and arrows I snatched up.

I found I did not even need to touch things to take them. As long they were in my line of sight, I could move them to my inventory even if I was not around. When we left, I heard a fight break out. It seemed the guy behind the counter was blaming another customer for stealing things.

When I finished nabbing everything I wanted, I walked right out of the store with nothing in my hands and Jen hugging my arm. This haul alone was enough to make even the greatest criminals of all time look like amateurs.

Jen let out a long breath as soon as we walked to the bus stop. I guess she was still in awe at how much we just stole just now. “Ai, did that really just happen?”

“Mhm. We just robbed them of a few thousand dollars worth of stuff.” I replied. We were the only ones at the bus stop so I was not worried anyone would hear us. I pulled out my laptop, canceled the program, and shut it off. Since I picked up a few solar panel kits, I could recharge my laptop later.

I do plan to make a phase generator later that will power the entire base, but that will take time to create. I had two skills that would be of very good use to me, except one of them I did not know what it did. I was unsure what quantum creation even did. I will need to take a deeper look into my system thing later on. I also have ten skill points, so I will have to check it out tonight while camping. Maybe I can even get a skill that will allow me to build things faster.

When the bus arrived, we headed off toward the mountain. It would be about two hours to get there, along with two bus transfers, but that was fine. Jen stayed hugging my arm the entire time. I let her take a window seat on every bus so that she did not need to deal with people.

The bus arrived at the bus stop in the town near the mountain, where we alighted and began making our way to the edge of the forest. There were dirt roads that we could take that also entered the mountains, but I did not want to leave too much of a trail.

About an hour into our hike, Jen asked: “Ai, can we take a break?”

“Hmmm? Alright.” I nodded and found a decent spot to rest. There was a tree log sitting on its side, which was probably from an old fallen tree. Jen sat next to me, and I handed her some water and a bag of potato chips. She happily took them and began munching away.

I, on the other hand, took out a pistol and a box of bullets and began filling up the magazine. This was a lightweight 9mm, which was perfect for Jen. I took out a holster and, after making sure the safety was on and no bullet in the chamber handed it to Jen.

“This? Ai, I can’t touch that!” Jen almost dropped her water when she saw the gun being passed to her.

“Take it. I will teach you how to use it later. But this is for your own protection. Just wear the holster on your shoulder and cover it with your jacket. We will be spending the night here, so if we do not have some kind of protection, we will not be in a good spot.”
