Puffy clouds slowly floated through the clear blue sky. White birds flew in flocks over the large city of Uruk. And in the center of this city was a tower. A tower that rose into the heavens. Even if you were to fly up continuously, you would never reach its peak. The top of the tower was said to lead to the realm of the gods.

Far away in the high rise slums that overlook the city on the side of a mountain cliff, a little girl was currently staring at said tower. “Myu, come on.”

Myu turned, her white hair swaying behind her as her red eyes sparkled like rubies. She gazed at the red headed girl in front of her and smiled. “Sorry, Sister! Coming!”

She ran over and took her sister's hand. They were not blood related, but her sister Rio had taken her as her sister since she was three years old. They only had each other in this place. She was her world, and she was hers. They protected each other from the harsh world around them, dreaming of a better life.

Gripping the small hand in hers, Rio looked at the white haired girl next to her and smiled softly. “You really like looking at the tower, don’t you?”

“Mmm… After all… It is said to be the place where wishes come true. How can I not dream of climbing it?” Myu asked as she squeezed the hand holding hers.

“I heard they had yet to clear the tenth floor. And there is no telling just how many floors there truly are. Plus, you need to be an awakened to even enter the tower.” Rio paused as she looked out towards the sky. Even on a day like this with very few clouds, you still could not see the peak of the tower.

“Even so, I still wish to climb it. I still have a chance to awaken. And…. We can at least live a better life than we are now.” Myu looked at the loaves of bread in Rio’s hands and then at the bruise on her face and sighed. “You got caught stealing again, didn’t you?”

“Tch. That bastard was just lucky! Even if I did get hit once, I at least was able to keep what I stole.” Rio grinned even though it hurt. “But awakening, huh? All humans have a chance to awaken. But it’s rare for anyone to awaken in this place. And you only gain the powers of the gods that helped you awaken. For you….”

Rio looked at Myu and held her chin. “Maybe the god of white rabbits would take an interest in you..”

“You! At least I can bite you to death!” Myu bared her teeth as she stared at Rio with furrowed brows.

“Haha! I am so scared! Myu is going to bite me to death!” Rio’s antics caused Myu to try to kick her, but she dodged and began laughing. Rio let go of Myu's hand and began running away, causing Myu to give chase.

The two sisters ran through the streets of the slums in high spirits despite their hard life. Living day by day. Stealing what food they could get their hands on, even at the cost of their own lives. This was how they lived since the day they were born. In a city where slums took up a good portion of the west side, the people here did their best to live out their daily lives. For a slum, it was actually quite peaceful. There were no such things as slaves here, as there was only one city in this entire world. Uruk…. The city of the gods and the home of the Tower of Babel.

The two ran down the same alleys they always did on their way back home. Normally there was never much trouble in the slums. Of course, there were fights here and there but nothing that would cause too much of a scene but on this day….

Rio suddenly came to a skidding stop, causing Myu to crash into her back. “Rio! Why did you stop all of a sud…. Rio?”

Myu quickly realized something was wrong when she saw the serious look in her sister’s eyes. Her long red hair blew in the breeze, her eyes firmly locked on the man in front of her.

“Heh… didn’t think I could catch you, did you, you little shit! Day after day, coming to my shop stealing my bread. Day after day! Too bad for you that I knew long ago what paths you took within the slums. And now I will take care of you and that little rat behind you.” A tall, well built man with a scar on his eye had a sword in his hand. You could say the aura about him at this time was that of someone who was about to commit murder.

“You! How!?” Rio did not understand as she took two steps back, pulling her sister behind her.

“How!? I was once a climber, an awakened! My god is the god of shadows, Erebus! I can travel anywhere I want in almost an instant as long as there is a shadow. I just had to sit here and wait for you. In the main city, I do not dare take your life but here…. Who the hell is going to report me?” The well built man looked around. The people of the slums who were once on the street all went into hiding. This was just how this place was. No one wanted trouble.

Rio felt fear for the first time. She never thought this would happen. Only one thought came to mind as the man in front of her continued to walk toward them, and that was… Run! She turned and grabbed Myu’s hand, and yelled: “Let’s go!”

Myu did not even get to answer as her sister began pulling her along, trying to run as fast as she could. Myu was doing her best to keep up, but because her legs were shorter and she could not run as fast as her sister. She ended up tripping over her own two legs and crashing into the ground.

“Myu!” Rio yelled out as the well built man suddenly appeared behind Myu out of her shadow that was cast by the setting sun. With his sword in hand, he struck out without mercy….
