Outside not far away, in a back alley, a goblin’s face smashed into the ground. A tall humanoid sighed as it looked around. “That makes level 2… Luckily I learned a lot about games from my little girl.” The figure had on a pair of back and yellow overalls with his pinkish skin exposed. Muscles bulged out with spots of sweat trickling down the massive muscles on his body. His red hair stood out against the moldy, mossy city walls. The two black horns on his head were short and far from being anything more than an accessory to look at.

“But to think that as soon as I killed one of these green things, my entire body would change, and I would get this system thing. I wonder if Desa will recognize me… But an Oni, huh?” The oni, or more like Ricky Harris, Desaray’s adopted father, looked down at his own hands that were covered in blood and let out another sigh.  “I hope she won’t be scared. I just hope she is alive…. I guess I can take another look, as searching pointlessly will get me nowhere.”

Ricky was very worried about Desaray. He had planned to keep searching all over, but he knew it was pointless to search aimlessly. He also did not want to stray too far from the house in case she returned. As long as she returned and saw his note, he was sure she would stay put and wait for him. For the past few hours, he had been cleaning up the monsters around the area in hopes of making the place safe for his daughter, but the monsters kept appearing out of thin air no matter how many he killed. They would stay dead for a short while but reappear not long later. Where they were coming from, he had no idea.

“I guess I will stop in the house once more…” Ricky decided to head home once again just in case. He kept thinking that he would swing the door open and see his baby girl standing there doing some housework or cooking. He could only hope she was safe.

Inside the house, Desaray had some music on very low as she hummed along with it. She was currently standing on a chair and dicing up some vegetables, her tail swaying to the music. She really hoped her father would come back sooner rather than later. She knew him well, if he was truly outside searching for her, he would most likely come back a few times to see if she was here or not. She knew that he knew there was only one place she would return to, especially if he left a letter like he did.

An hour passed, and Desaray was currently stirring a pot of spaghetti sauce when she heard keys at the door. She already knew that the only person who would have keys to her house and would use them at this time was her father. While nervous, she acted like nothing was wrong as she continued to stir the pot of spaghetti sauce. She knew that no matter what happened next, it was going to happen anyway. Instead of running away and hiding, she decided it would be best to face it head-on and act like everything was normal.

As the door opened, Desaray clenched her fists and, with her best dragony smile, turned her head and looked at the tall, muscular man who had just walked into the living room and definitely did not look like her father and said: “Wash up, food will be ready soon.”

“Huh? Oh right….” Ricky had just walked in to see a blue lizard standing on a chair cooking in his kitchen and nodded his head. He did not need to ask who the blue lizard was. He had heard the same line many times now. He walked into his bedroom and looked down at himself and realized he was covered in little green men’s blood, and sighed. He hoped this did not frighten her. But at the same time, seeing how she was already transformed meant that she had gone through a lot already.

Desaray eyes were filled with tears. It was her father. He, too, had evolved into a new race. He acted the same as always. He even said things the same way he always would. With her scaly lips curled up and tears rolling down her blue cheeks, she continued to stir the sauce happily.

While things were looking up for Desaray, high above in the sky, a yellow blob was starting to form. Golden yellow balls of light were slowly floating up into it in masses. They seemed to be coming from all over the place and not just the area below. The yellow blob of light was growing bigger and bigger by the second. It stretched out for many miles, and while dim at the moment, if one looked closely, it was starting to grow brighter and brighter by the second as well. This was not the only place that had such a thing in the sky. In other parts of the world, the same scene could also be seen all over if you were looking carefully. The world that Desaray, her friends, and Ricky knew was about to change more than they could ever imagine.

Earth was about to change. Whether it was for the best or not was up to one’s own opinion. But one thing that was for sure was that life would not be the same anymore….
