“Whoah!” Desaray came to what she thought was a road to find that it was now a raging river. Her current goal at this moment was to find her old apartment, although currently, the way things were going, it was not going to be easy.

As to why she was going there, it was mainly to take a look. Her home and life had been ruined by the world changes; she at least wanted to know what had now become of her old home.

But in order to do that, she had to figure out how to cross the river that was at least for car lanes wide. She sat on top of a bunch of debris that was now covered in foliage, lost in thought. “Where did all this water come from?

Desaray truly wondered how she was supposed to cross this river. The rushing water did not make it easy in the slightest. Sighing at the sight before her, Desaray looked both left and right but did not see any means of crossing the river. “Did this come off the Hudson?”

When she thought of it like that, it would make sense for there to be water here, if a crack in the ground was formed here all the way to the Hudson River, then it was very plausible. Since she was not sure which way to begin her search, Desaray hopped off the chunk of debris she was sitting on and picked up a stick off the ground, and stabbed it into the dirt underfoot. She then let go of it and watched it sway back and forth before falling in front of her to the right slightly. “Then left it is!”

With the way her luck was, as of late, she decided it was best to do the opposite of whatever the stick said. She had a feeling if she did not do things in this way, she would end up in the mouths of some big monster.

She made her way down the side of the river for quite a while until she was forced to stop when her detection magic finally picked something up. The best thing about this spell was that it was an activated spell. It stayed on until canceled. It also did not cost any extra mana to keep it going, which was very nice.

Desaray quickly moved to one of the freshly grown trees in front of her and, using her claws, climbed to one of the branches and looked around. From there, she got a much better view of what was around her and easily spotted what looked to be a camp of some kind.

“Is this made by humans?” Desaray wrinkled her brow. She was not sure what was more dangerous at this time. Monsters or humans. If she spoke to them first, they might not attack, but if they still attacked even after she spoke to them, she could be in trouble.

If it was monsters, she could try to lure one or two out and kill them one after the other to gain experience. At this time, she wanted to keep from killing any humans just because. Unless they were doing something bad, she preferred to refrain from taking human lives just yet. But if they attacked her, she would not hesitate to defend herself. She figured a fireball or her ice breath could easily take care of them. She still had 15 skill points, but she was unwilling to spend them just yet. She needed to know exactly what she needed to survive now.

Her current situation had only just changed, so until she had a better understanding of her surroundings, she did not want to go wasting points on something that would not help her right away, like how detection magic was already helpful, meaning it was a good purchase. She did go through the list briefly to see if there was a barrier of some kind, but she still had not seen anything like that. She kind of wished the skill list was more organized. Everything was just thrown in there with little to no direction.

Since she had a good view of what she believed to be a camp, she waited for the little dots in her detection magic to move into view. It was strange since it was kind of like a radar. She was the little white dot in the center, and the yellow dots around her were living beings of some kind.

She sat on her tree branch for almost an hour until, finally, one of the dots came into view. It was a pink-skinned humanoid. It was not human, of course, but it did walk on two legs and even had a long, sharpened stick in its hands as it walked around, showing it had some form of intelligence. But now Desaray was in a bit of a dilemma. She did not know if this was someone like her or not. If this person was once human, she did not want to attack it.

Of course, if it was a goblin race and was once human, she would kill it since all goblins needed to die! Mainly because she knew the goblin traits. She also knew she was taking on some of her own race’s traits as well. Becky had so kindly pointed this out to her. Luckily now she had an inventory, so it would not be as noticeable. As long as she did not start chasing after shiny things, she was good.

After pondering for a moment, Desaray decided to see what would happen if she threw a rock near the pig-faced humanoid.
